Thoughts on Personal Spirituality
I've become more spiritual lately.
Not in the classic religious sense - I definitely don't follow any one religion.
But at least in the idea that quite possibly, there is something bigger than us.
Now first and foremost, I see myself as a "scientist".
So I believe we can prove through experimentation and study most of the things in the Universe - "Most".
But equally, I'm very aware there is a big Universe out there.
I even struggle to get my head around the size of our planet, let alone everything else.
So quite possibly there is something that connects everything.
And so, I believe in the Universe, in a way that people believe in God.
Not the stories behind religions (although they are a great study for life lessons and how to behave), but the idea that something is connecting us all.
After all, we're all born of this Earth and will go back to this Earth eventually.
An Earth that was seemingly created from nothing but the star dust that all planets and stars are made of, and will go back to nothing but star dust.
And for that reason, we are made of the stars as well.
A connection between us all in "spirit", a connection to everything, even to the ends of the Universe.
So I pray to the Universe, understanding that everything happens for a reason apparently.
And if I believe what I believe, then there's no reason to question the Universe or what happens.
And spending time in both camps of belief and non-belief, I don't judge anyone anymore.
I understand why someone would and why someone wouldn't.
But the connection between these is belief.
And who am I to question someone's beliefs? (except people who believe the earth is flat, that's just weird).
So right now, I have a belief in one thing happening in my life, and there's no reason to question that or the Universe either.
To be fair, it hasn't got it wrong yet, and I doubt it will start now.
Until next time,
Marco
